Encouraging insights from ongoing flexible plastic kerbside collection pilots, covering nearly 30,000 UK households.
An innovative and collaborative fund giving value to flexible plastics so they are properly recycled.
*Whether you call it flexi, flexible, soft or “plastic bags and wrapping” there are loads of ways to describe things like wrappers, packets, film and pouches. The important thing is that by working together, we can make sure it gets recycled.
Making a difference
Collaborative
Everyone can play their part in bringing flexi back, from consumers and manufacturers to retailers, local authorities and recyclers. That’s why we’re getting everyone involved to make sure flexible plastic becomes the valuable material we know it could be. Flexible plastic is too useful to be left in the bin!
Transparent
We don’t want any flexible plastic to be wasted so collected material monitored through our scheme will be checked and tracked at every step of its journey from collection point to the final recycled plastic that is ready to be made into something new.
Long-term ambition
We’re encouraging everyone involved in recycling flexible plastic to take steps towards flexi recycling that is ultimately based in the UK, fully circular and included in household recycling collections.
The UK’s largest flexible plastic household collection and recycling pilot
Launched in 2022, FPF FlexCollect aims to understand how flexible plastic packaging can be recycled from households across the UK. The project is trialing a series of innovative flexible plastic household collection and recycling pilots in nine local authorities between 2022 and 2025.
